Paso-Primero Rosado. Big, bold, and deliciously un-trendy.
The wine that was nearly lost, but went on to become a superhero, defying convention and thumbing its nose at the status quo.
‘Perfect for summer barbecues (and with Sainsbury’s Bacon Crispies)’
Fiona Beckett The Guardian.
Here’s what you
need to know.
Grapes - An evolving blend of Merlot, Tempranillo, and Syrah.
Style - Big, bold, fun. Deep colour with big flavours of strawberries, raspberries, and cherries. But don’t panic, it’s not sweet!
Pairing - Where do we begin? Obviously with BBQ but this wine is sensational with a bag of bacon crispies (frazzles if you prefer!)
Moment - It’s hard to get away from pink wines working well in the sun. It’s just a fact. But we believe this rosado can put a smile on your face all year round. It’s a great party starter wine, a phenomenal snacking wine, and a seriously good ‘taking a break’ wine.
Insight - We nearly didn’t have a pink wine in our portfolio. We chased it for years, trying to fit in and make a pale provence-ish number. It never worked so we went back to basics and made a wine purely on taste. No analytics, no lab reviews, and certainly no colour matching. What came out in 2019 was a 15% beast with a colour to rival ribeana. But we loved it and it took off, changing our minds forever on how we should make wines. The current vintage is a lot tamer in terms of alcohol, but still packs that big, bold punch of red fruit and bags of fun.
