While working on the 2015 Paso-Primero wines we noticed that the year had been particularly good for some of our Cabernet-Sauvignon vines. So good in fact that we wanted to make a single varietal wine to show off the best that 2015 had to offer. As the year progressed we become more and more excited and felt that we had a pretty unique wine on our hands. We wanted to celebrate this special addition to the Paso-Primero family by giving it a special label. The idea of collaborating with an artist to create a piece of artwork just for Paso-Prima started to take hold and we began thinking of who would fit the project. We didn't have to look for long! As soon as we had met Lyn Evans she immediately understood what we were trying to do and set about capturing the essence of what we had achieved. In her own unique style she has showcased exactly what Paso-Prima means to us - a hand-crafted, one-off.
Lyn Evans is a Shropshire artist with a difference - she creates her artwork entirely from torn paper! The process of recreating scenes from this medium allows Lyn to depict familiar images in an unfamiliar way, giving all of her work a dreamlike appearance. Originally focusing on landscapes Lyn has now developed a portfolio of work covering everything from animals to campervans all of which can be found on her website.
Paso-Prima 2015 is a big, rounded red with soft, plush fruit and a long, deep finish. Made from 100% Cabernet-Sauvignon it has structure and complexity but this is all balanced out by the classic fruit-forwards Paso-Primero style. Easy drinking for such a big wine Paso-Prima is perfect for fighting off those winter blues. Pair it with roast dinners and stews or simply by the glass in front of an open fire.
